"Altered Recipe/Memory Binder"

Image
Hello Friends, I am really trying to cook more from scratch, for our health and having a good selection of recipes and being organised I think is the key for me. With working split shifts, I am going to try and menu plan, so I utilise my time better.    I have updated my recipe storage....... I have changed it a few times over the years, but it hasn't been very usable. I have altered another 70's craft binder, which I found in the Salvos for $3. It will give me space for 8.5 x 11 refills and paper.  I am finding, that making and using binder journals is fun and easy, to add and take out pages. You can find them pretty cheap at thrift stores and you can even buy new ones cheap and still alter and use them for your style of creativity...... This was a general craft binder with pages and dividers. I gave it a really good wipe over and dry. I had some Cooking themed scrapbook paper that I hadn't used so it was perfect for this project. I just measured the covers and spi...

'New Personal Planner"

Image
Happy Monday, As it gets closer to Xmas and as the year is disappearing, it is time to start thinking about a new planner for 2022. Hoping with our Vaccinations and Victoria opening up again after months of lockdowns, it will be a lot better next year. Some travel and a long overdue holiday would be awesome!!!! Anyway......... I decided to use a hardcover book for my new planner as they are more robust and it will be handled quite a bit. I usually tend to go towards blues but this book had a dark red spine and a cream cover. I have some lovely napkins that I haven't used much yet and thought this one with the Robin was perfect for the front of it. I used pieces from a couple of different napkins and used my homemade mod podge glue to seal it all over the front.  This opens up to a hidden pocket. I used a large envelope that I covered with a napkin to use as a place to keep more personal items. I made a notebook to keep a track of those pesky passwords we all have...... I have...

"Custom Made Journal"

Image
Hello There,  I have been a little absent with life, once again getting in my way!!  We have had a few Covid cases here and staff off work, so I have been helping out where I can......Victoria is nearly 70% 1st dose Vaccinated which is wonderful and some restrictions are going.  I am mostly looking forward to having my son come home for dinner and time together again.  I have been working on my new planner for my work rosters and other bits and pieces, plus a custom order for my friend Susan, who own Geelong Cleaning Experts, based here in Colac.  As I have finished it and she has it, I can now show you. I have also been altering a Xmas Little Golden Book for a swap that I am having a go at also.  I always have something on the go...... Susan gave me a bit of an idea what she wanted to use the journal for and I went from there.............For her custom journal, I used a hard book cover book, which was basically unaltered. I strengthened the spine and...

"Stash Buster Challenge Journal - Finished"

Image
Hello Everyone Hoping you are all safe and well... I am pretty busy with work and at the moment we are out of lockdown... The Stashbuster Journal Challenge is now finished and I have completed the challenges required. I will still add things to it and fill it up more. I think I could use it as a garden journal as it is rose/garden themed. I used Antique Rose and Antique Garden, Digital kits from the group and they are beautiful.......I used different parts of the kits that I printed out. I also used papers etc through my journal, with lots from my stash!!!! This is my 11 x 7 " chunky journal. In front of it is a writing board I made to use, to have a sturdy surface to write, stamp etc. There is lots of space to add 'stuff' too and I made the closure with eyelets and some fringe trim. I used the same eyelets, on the top and bottom of the spine and used the same trim to bind the pages into it.  Above, you can see I threaded each one separately and tied them on the outside. ...

"Stash Busting September" - Element Challenges

Image
Hi friends, I have really enjoyed the Stash Buster Challenge. These are all the finished element challenges for my journal.  This one was to use book pages and make 3 items to add to your journal.  I made a double corner tuck on the left, a belly band in the middle and a double pocket on the right.  The next one, I decided to have a go at was to use strips of leftover paper for your elements.  On the left is a small paper bag pocket, the middle is a pocket on the front using the basketweave paper technique and the right one is a flip out. All just using strips of paper that I have had leftover from other projects. I used a bit of a couple of Digi prints mixed on them also. For this element, you needed to use a roll of some sort of paper as the base for your items. I had some packaging paper and I stamped all over it. I then made a full-size flip page. I made a belly band and a double envelope stack with the paper and other bits and bobs. On the back is another ...

"Mum's Memory Journal" - Finished

Image
Hi Friends, Hoping you are well in your part of the world. We are just coming out of lockdown again in Western Victoria, which is good :) I have finished the journal making part of Mum's Memory Journal. Now to fill it with photos and stories ....... This post is photo-heavy, so you know :) The final two challenges were to make 3 Altered Paper clips, 3 Altered playing cards, plus bind your journal and the cover. I made Mum's journal from an upcycled 80's craft binder. It is three-ring so I didn't have to worry about making a cover and binding it........ I made a front cover from one of the extra pages I created. It also has the tassel I made hanging on the spine. I used larger paper clips and tied some of the trims to it that I used on the spine dangle. I also added a few different charms to them.   For the Altered playing cards, I did them layered in the sewing/vintage theme, to match all the other elements I had made.   The front cover is a collaged pieces of ...

"Stash Busting September"

Happy Spring!! I hope you have had a lovely start to a new season here in Australia. The days start to get a bit warmer and the rain eases off a little!!  Still in Lockdown but we just have to take it a day at a time!!! Spring is a time for change and new things....... I have just decided to take the plunge and go digital with my Journal making and memory keeping. I bought an Epson Eco Tank 2750 to be able to print what I want instead of having to order online to get products. With Lockdown shipping is taking a lot longer also......I have been testing it out this week and I love it. I have bought a few digital kits which you download to the computer then they are yours to keep using as much as you want.  There are also lots of free printables available also out there.  The kits have paper, and embellishments included. You can also buy them separately if wanted. This month, I am diving into my stash to see what hidden gems I have totally forgotten about....... I have...
