"Memory Journal For Mum"

Image
Hello there, Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are all going well...It is very hectic here and it has become very cold also. Great indoors weather and we are going well, with no Covid or restrictions here in Victoria at the moment :) This last week I started working on a Memory album Journal of my mum. She passed away from Alzheimer's, July 2017 and I never got to make her 80th Life album.  I made my stepdad an album for his 100th Birthday. He died 6 months after mum, aged 102.  I am a memory keeper for my boys and I decided to do a Junk Journal style ring binder album.  I found a couple of retro ones in an op shop. I am using the Super stitch for mums and the other for one for myself. I went through my stash to see what would fit the theme of the journal and I found some tags that I finished off with some stitching and collage. These backs of packaging I had kept for making journal cards and tags.  I made them into tags and cards for photos and journaling.  I went through the

"Paper Bag Journal"

Hello there, It is Sunday here in Aus and it has been a very wet and cold week. I have enjoyed being home in between my shifts this week....... Over the last week or so I have been working on a Journal for a swap I am in on FB. The challenge was to create it from Paper bags. As it has been received I can share how I made it....... I used a medium-sized bag I kept from one of our local shops which was a good size for the cover.  I Collaged scrap paper from my stash over it and made a Title for the front of it with some bits and pieces. I finished it off with some Sari Silk trim to keep it together. For the inside pages, I folded some lunch bags in half and then I just sewed down the middle of them with my machine. I decorated them in a Vintage style and colours for the lady I was making the journal for.  I used lots of different writing and plain paper throughout the journal with stamped images for embellishment. I also left a few of the bag pages blank for her to play with. I made a B

"Journal Ephemera Storage"

Gday Everyone I am back with a little project I started a week ago and in between my shift work, I have managed to finish and start using it.  If you are like me, my Junk Journal Ephemera (die cuts, doilies, tags, journal cards, etc) is never sorted and where I can find things when I want to add them to my journal or make something..... I have tried endless ways to store it and have tried zip lock bags, containers, baskets etc, but nothing really works. I am always wasting time looking and it becomes a mess... I decided to do something about it and get it more organised and user-friendly by making a journal and folios to house it all in and divided it into categories. To start, I knew I wanted to use different papers from my scrap box and use them to collage......Music sheet, book pages, scrapbook paper, ledger paper, gift wrap, lined paper, all sorts to create some texture.   I am using my stash and I didn't buy anything for this project...... I cut down some file folders I had t

Lets Get Started - What Is A Junk journal?

Hi Friends, I thought the best place to start is to tell you a bit about Junk Journals. ...I talk a lot about my Junk Journals but sometimes I think my friends and blog followers don't quite get what all the hype is about :)  The official definition is  -  Junk Journal: A book that is often made through found and recycled materials to be used as a way to collect and record memories, thoughts, ideas, and inspiration. Basically a "Junk Journal" is a journal you can use for anything you want it to be and made out of anything also. I like using old book covers, making my own covers and upcycling cardboard packaging.  It can be made of as many or as few recycled pages/materials as you want.  There are many uses for a Junk Journal:  Everday Journal, Planner, Art Journaling and Mixed Media, Memory Keeping, a Gift, a Themed book, like Xmas and a Glue Book.  The best part is there are no rules and you use them for what You want!!! I have been playing around and creating Junk J
