"Pj Day & My New Craft Space"

Image
Hi Everyone, I hope you had a great week and the weekend is going well........ I am having a Pj day and a play in my new Craft Space :)  Probably like a lot of crafters out there.......when my boys were younger and home with me, I always used a part of the living room or the kitchen, for my scrapbooking and craft. I started off with one table, a small book case and basic tools, when I first started scrapbooking 20 years ago.  I have slowly built up my stash and it hasn't cost me a fortune, as I have recycled and bought the right pieces for my space. My boys have settled nicely into their home now and are getting on well. They both moved out when they were ready and I never pressured them.  Things happen and the right time eventually came. I loved having them at home, but it is also a new chapter for me with them leaving the nest...... So.......... after a few weeks of condensing, destashing, re-arranging, cleaning, sorting and moving in, my craft room is finally the...

"Mum's Memory Journal" - Finished

Image
Hi Friends, Hoping you are well in your part of the world. We are just coming out of lockdown again in Western Victoria, which is good :) I have finished the journal making part of Mum's Memory Journal. Now to fill it with photos and stories ....... This post is photo-heavy, so you know :) The final two challenges were to make 3 Altered Paper clips, 3 Altered playing cards, plus bind your journal and the cover. I made Mum's journal from an upcycled 80's craft binder. It is three-ring so I didn't have to worry about making a cover and binding it........ I made a front cover from one of the extra pages I created. It also has the tassel I made hanging on the spine. I used larger paper clips and tied some of the trims to it that I used on the spine dangle. I also added a few different charms to them.   For the Altered playing cards, I did them layered in the sewing/vintage theme, to match all the other elements I had made.   The front cover is a collaged pieces of ...

"Mum's Memory Journal" - Continued....

Image
Hello There, Hoping all my friends are well and safe if in Lockdown...... We are still free atm in Regional Victoria and I have had a busy week. In between, I have been creating a bit more of Mum's Journal.  I am still playing along with the challenges in the FB group and  #7 was to create some Ephemera Drawers and #8 to make Flips using envelopes.   For this first one, I used 3 business-sized envelopes and put them together so they would fold in and out.  I can add tags, photos, journaling etc to them. This one, I played around with a bit and decided to put four different size envelopes together, using the openings as the flip part. I made a couple of fasteners from cardstock and used twine to hold them down in the journal. These little drawers I created using a wardrobe tag. As I couldn't use the digital to make it, I improvised with what I had...... On the inside cover, of the vintage binder that I am using: I collaged a page and made a large pocket, th...

"Altered Book Rolodex"

Image
Hello Friends, As I am playing with an Altered Book at the moment, I thought I would show you another great project, you can make with a book also.  When I was a kid, a Rolodex was something on an office desk that held business cards, and contact details. It turned on a roller so the cards were accessible. I had one of the ones above and used the small cards to make mini scrapbook layouts. I used lots of photos up that didn't go into our family albums :)  With this sort of thing in mind, I first made a book into one earlier this year. It was a fun and easy project. I have used it to store my ATC swaps.  There are some great Tutorials on Youtube and I watched this one  "HERE"  and then had a go myself.  The book I used was one I found at the op shop and as the pages were a bit thicker, I folded all of them. If your book has quite a few its is better to fold three or four of them together.  This time instead of leaving the book flat, I folded one s...

"Altered Book" - Part 1- Prepping Your Book

Image
Hi there,  I hope you are doing well :)   Victoria is into our 6th Lockdown now, with cases in Melbourne again :(  I am an essential worker and we haven't stopped.  Thursday, on my way home from work, I went op-shopping locally here in town and found a few goodies for my Junk Journaling stash. I found a few good size books, some doilies, postcards, cards and envelopes, writing sets, a Japanese watercolour book, and music books. I go maybe once a month/6 weeks, or so for a peek and I usually find some cool bits and pieces.  I have today off and thought I would make a start on a new journal for me..... I found a nice copy of Pride and Prejudice, which I think I have decided to use as my new Personal/Daily journal. I wanted to keep the nice cover and take out some pages. It is a 1984 copy so not precious and the pages had a good thickness to them also. I have made a couple of altered books before, my latest being a Vintage book. It was a lot of fun to cr...

"Inspiration File Folder Journal"

Image
G'day and I hope your are going well, wherever you are :) This is my weekend off and with the cold wet weather, I am mainly hibernating and used the time to craft a bit :) I love watching YouTube videos of some very clever artists.  A few of my faves, that I have Subbed to are:  The Paper Outpost, 49 Dragonflies, Paper Terrace, Marmie SmallArt, Treasure Books and Joie De Fi. We have some talented Aussies out there too and I love Johanna, Clough, Willbound Journals, Roxy Creations, Shanouki Art and Paper Inspirations :) I puddle and have a go at their tutorials, for inspiration for my journals. I thought I would make one just to try things out and document how to make different ephemera, pockets, tags etc.  I have had plans of doing more videos myself but life gets in the way................. I thought I would try a different journal and use office file folders, that you can buy in office supply and cheap shops. I really enjoy the process of putting a journal togethe...
