"2021- My Last Post"

Image
Happy end of 2021 Everyone, We made it through 2021, now to see what this year has planned for us............. My biggest goal atm is to get back to work asap :)    My last post for 2021, is a share of the journals that I made for my men. They draw and journal quite a bit, so of course, that got me thinking..... I found three great condition Sherlock Holmes books and they were the perfect sizes to make new journals from. I keep the text block, that I cut out of each, to use the pages in other projects. They are great for collage and mixed media. I cut some chipboard to size to fit the spine and tore some calico for the length of the spine and over the top. I just ran the edges around with a zig-zag stitch so they wouldn't keep fraying. I wanted them to have a grungy feel and I also inked them with distress oxide ink to darken them a little. Before I glued down the fabric, I added some themed paper to both sides of the inside covers to give them a finished look.  To make the bindin

"Xmas LGB Journal Swap"

Image
Hi Friends, Hoping you all had a Merry Xmas.....I had a quiet day with my boys and I am still off work after my accident. I am now able to share a Little Golden Book Journal that I made finished in October, for a swap. The lady has received it and loved it. I also added an extra bag of goodies for her to use in it and a Xmas card that I made. I have saved all my LGB's for my grandchildren if that ever happens ;) I found some cheap ones to alter, at a thrift shop. I used a Rudoph Little Golden Book book, as I love that story.  I took it apart, used the pages and made it with jump rings so it can be added too if needed. I just decorated some extra pages and added tags, tuck spots etc for the owner to use. I used all of the book pages in the journal so the story was still there. I used some old Xmas cards and cut out images from them. I glued one side and made tucks and hidden places for photos or journaling. You can use whatever you have in your stash in Junk Journals. It is great t

"One Little Word - 2022"

Hi Friends, I hope you are all well and things are good in your part of the world!!! I  had a bit of a spill, last Thursday morning at work. I hit the right side of my face, shoulder, elbow, arm, ribs, etc.....I wasn't rushing, just doing my job and it just happened.....  I am very bruised and sore, so off work for a week. Luckily this time, I didn't break anything and I am healing.  "The older you are the longer your body takes to recover"  Anyway.........This is keeping me pretty quiet, which is probably a good thing. I have been able to think about 2022 a bit and my "One Little Word" for the New Year. If you don't know what this is check out this blog by Ali Edwards who started it all in 2006........  "HERE" I don't bother with resolutions as they bore me. I choose a word to carry with during the year, that I can use in my daily life..........  I may not do something with it every day but that is ok. I do what I feel like doing. So

"Pj Day & My New Craft Space"

Image
Hi Everyone, I hope you had a great week and the weekend is going well........ I am having a Pj day and a play in my new Craft Space :)  Probably like a lot of crafters out there.......when my boys were younger and home with me, I always used a part of the living room or the kitchen, for my scrapbooking and craft. I started off with one table, a small book case and basic tools, when I first started scrapbooking 20 years ago.  I have slowly built up my stash and it hasn't cost me a fortune, as I have recycled and bought the right pieces for my space. My boys have settled nicely into their home now and are getting on well. They both moved out when they were ready and I never pressured them.  Things happen and the right time eventually came. I loved having them at home, but it is also a new chapter for me with them leaving the nest...... So.......... after a few weeks of condensing, destashing, re-arranging, cleaning, sorting and moving in, my craft room is finally the way I want it

"A Little DIY"

Image
Hi Friends, I have been a bit absent from my blogging, which hasn't been in my plan at all......   Work has been full-on and I have made the decision, to not work weekends anymore.  I have picked up other shifts Mon-Fri.  I have been doing this job for nearly 9 years and I think it's time to slow a little.....I am enjoying spending some more time, actually at home and doing a few things, I haven't had the time or energy to do.  I went out for dinner with a team of great girls, I work with and managed a bit of gardening, plus saw my youngest son........ I have nearly moved into my new craft room, as my sons are now settled in their home. I have been doing a little DIY project this weekend.  I found a cheap sturdy desk, on a local selling site and decided to give it a facelift......It had a desk, drawers and a hutch for great storage. Jayden picked it up for me and then I went to Bunnings and bought some paint that I could use straight over the wood with no prep or fuss. Tha

"Altered Recipe/Memory Binder"

Image
Hello Friends, I am really trying to cook more from scratch, for our health and having a good selection of recipes and being organised I think is the key for me. With working split shifts, I am going to try and menu plan, so I utilise my time better.    I have updated my recipe storage....... I have changed it a few times over the years, but it hasn't been very usable. I have altered another 70's craft binder, which I found in the Salvos for $3. It will give me space for 8.5 x 11 refills and paper.  I am finding, that making and using binder journals is fun and easy, to add and take out pages. You can find them pretty cheap at thrift stores and you can even buy new ones cheap and still alter and use them for your style of creativity...... This was a general craft binder with pages and dividers. I gave it a really good wipe over and dry. I had some Cooking themed scrapbook paper that I hadn't used so it was perfect for this project. I just measured the covers and spine and

'New Personal Planner"

Image
Happy Monday, As it gets closer to Xmas and as the year is disappearing, it is time to start thinking about a new planner for 2022. Hoping with our Vaccinations and Victoria opening up again after months of lockdowns, it will be a lot better next year. Some travel and a long overdue holiday would be awesome!!!! Anyway......... I decided to use a hardcover book for my new planner as they are more robust and it will be handled quite a bit. I usually tend to go towards blues but this book had a dark red spine and a cream cover. I have some lovely napkins that I haven't used much yet and thought this one with the Robin was perfect for the front of it. I used pieces from a couple of different napkins and used my homemade mod podge glue to seal it all over the front.  This opens up to a hidden pocket. I used a large envelope that I covered with a napkin to use as a place to keep more personal items. I made a notebook to keep a track of those pesky passwords we all have...... I have made
