"One Little Word - 2022"

 Hi Friends,
I hope you are all well and things are good in your part of the world!!!
I  had a bit of a spill, last Thursday morning at work. I hit the right side of my face, shoulder, elbow, arm, ribs, etc.....I wasn't rushing, just doing my job and it just happened.....  I am very bruised and sore, so off work for a week. Luckily this time, I didn't break anything and I am healing.  "The older you are the longer your body takes to recover" 


Anyway.........This is keeping me pretty quiet, which is probably a good thing. I have been able to think about 2022 a bit and my "One Little Word" for the New Year. If you don't know what this is check out this blog by Ali Edwards who started it all in 2006........ "HERE"

I don't bother with resolutions as they bore me. I choose a word to carry with during the year, that I can use in my daily life..........

 I may not do something with it every day but that is ok. I do what I feel like doing. Some past words I have used are, HEALTH, FAMILY, FOCUS, SIMPLIFY, ME, FRUGAL, CAPTURE and CREATE. The first year I took Ali's Class and followed her monthly prompts, in a scrapbook format, then I changed it up and did it in different ways.





For 2022 my word is going to be More........ 

*Family - spending quality time with my boys

*Selfcare - good food and exercise

*Journaling/Memory Keeping

*Rest - when I need it and listen to my body.

*Gardening- outdoor spaces

*Cooking- more from scratch

*Happiness.......

* Love.......

*Living.......

*The little moments........

These are just the main things I want to focus on, but Im sure there will be others. I like to have my word visible, so I see it everyday. I will probably use a frame or a canvas to create some art and display this somewhere in my home. It is a reminder of my word and what I want to achieve next year personally.......

    You know Kerrie that’s a great word for your prompts. After the year I have had it’s going to be hard to choose a word. Daughter being burned to 60% of her body, she survived and is going forward great guns. But lots of family passing away, and girlfriend with stage 4 melonoma cancer and doing treatment I am at a loss for a word that encompasses the whole gauntlet. I like your prompts and will pinch them but at a loss for the word. By the way I love your work it’s awesome. Please get better quick because they don’t make spare parts for our model Merry Christmas to you and your family too.

    Happy NY Maria, Hoping 2022 is a great year for you all and your daughter recovers well :)
    Lots of stuff has happened and we somehow manage to get through it xx

"Paper Bag Journal"

 Hello there, It is Sunday here in Aus and it has been a very wet and cold week. I have enjoyed being home in between my shifts this week....... Over the last week or so I have been working on a Journal for a swap I am in on FB. The challenge was to create it from Paper bags. As it has been received I can share how I made it....... I used a medium-sized bag I kept from one of our local shops which was a good size for the cover.  I Collaged scrap paper from my stash over it and made a Title for the front of it with some bits and pieces. I finished it off with some Sari Silk trim to keep it together. For the inside pages, I folded some lunch bags in half and then I just sewed down the middle of them with my machine. I decorated them in a Vintage style and colours for the lady I was making the journal for.  I used lots of different writing and plain paper throughout the journal with stamped images for embellishment. "2021- My Last Post"

 Happy end of 2021 Everyone, We made it through 2021, now to see what this year has planned for us............. My biggest goal atm is to get back to work asap :)    My last post for 2021, is a share of the journals that I made for my men. They draw and journal quite a bit, so of course, that got me thinking..... I found three great condition Sherlock Holmes books and they were the perfect sizes to make new journals from. I keep the text block, that I cut out of each, to use the pages in other projects. They are great for collage and mixed media. I cut some chipboard to size to fit the spine and tore some calico for the length of the spine and over the top. I just ran the edges around with a zig-zag stitch so they wouldn't keep fraying. I wanted them to have a grungy feel and I also inked them with distress oxide ink to darken them a little. Before I glued down the fabric, I added some themed paper to both sides of the inside covers to give them a finished look....

"Altered Book Rolodex"

 Hello Friends, As I am playing with an Altered Book at the moment, I thought I would show you another great project, you can make with a book also.  When I was a kid, a Rolodex was something on an office desk that held business cards, and contact details. It turned on a roller so the cards were accessible. I had one of the ones above and used the small cards to make mini scrapbook layouts. I used lots of photos up that didn't go into our family albums :)  With this sort of thing in mind, I first made a book into one earlier this year. It was a fun and easy project. I have used it to store my ATC swaps.  There are some great Tutorials on Youtube and I watched this one  "HERE"  and then had a go myself.  The book I used was one I found at the op shop and as the pages were a bit thicker, I folded all of them.
